Daily Devotion, 12/21/2018, “Timeless”
Revelation 1:8 NIV
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
With Alpha and Omega being the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, it’s like God is saying that He’s the is the “A” and the “Z” and every letter in between. He’s always existed, He’s here in this moment and He’s in every tomorrow of eternity. At every time and in every place that was and is and is to come, He is the Almighty. There never has been and there never will be anyone greater, wiser or stronger than our God. He is THEAlmighty. The thought of God being in all places at all times, past, present and future, all at the same time can make your head hurt. We tend to think of time in what the Greeks called “chronos” time which is the chronological. sequential and linear perspective we see represented on a timeline. Seconds, minutes, hours, days and so on pass by, never to be experienced again. Because God it eternal and omnipresent, He isn’t limited by chronos time. For example, Romans 5:8 says that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We know that we weren’t even alive 2,000 plus years ago but to our timeless God, we were alive, we were lost in sin, He loved us and He sent Jesus for us.
God knows your yesterdays, He is there. God knows your today, He is there. God knows your tomorrows, He is there and in every one of your days and in all of your timeless eternity, He is the Almighty. He knows what’s next and how to take you through it because He’s already there. So, no matter what you’re walking through days or what upsetting surprises are around the bend, may your walk closely with your timeless God. You are loved!
