Daily Devotion, 3/11/18, Day 9: Timing: An Act of Beauty
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men. " Ecclesiastes 3:11
Those watching the gruesome horror of Jesus’ crucifixion could not see in those moments that His death on the cruel cross was actually an act of beauty. Despite appearances, those were unprecedented and beautiful moments of redemption for all of us. Those were the moments when every penalty for every sin was atoned for through Jesus' sacrifice.
Oftentimes our vision cannot perceive what lies beyond the moment we are in. It may look like the underside of a tapestry with no rhyme or reason, just a bunch of random threads. In its time, the beauty and power of the cross and resurrection began to make sense to the disciples. In fact, when the Holy Spirit came upon them, they took the message of the cross and Jesus' resurrection to the world around them thus bringing a sacred revolution to all those who would receive the grace of Jesus. God has placed eternity in our hearts and doesn't want any to perish. Therefore, He works as the Master Weaver patiently working in and through all our life's circumstances to lead us to His heart of love. No matter how much the enemy distorts our perception of our circumstances or how gruesome his attacks may be upon us, we have a God who desperately, desperately loves us. His purposes and plans for us are good. May God bring clarity and hope to your heart as you reflect on His reckless love and amazing grace. Keep praying your dangerous daily prayer. God makes all things beautiful in its time.
Reflect and Record:
* What situation in your life still looks like random threads?
* Where do you need to trust His timing in making something beautiful in your life?
