Daily Devotion, 3/18/18, Day 16: Kingdom Fruitfulness
John 3:30 “He must become greater; I must become less”.
Those weighty words spoken by John the Baptist show such huge humility and devotion to Jesus. John the Baptist had learned the Kingdom value of true fruitfulness and the gift of seeing circumstances through God's perspective. Only as he decreased and allowed Jesus to increase would the fullness of the Kingdom of Heaven come. John had fulfilled his powerful and anointed role in preparing the way for Jesus. Incredible fruit beyond what John could see at the moment followed his relentless obedience. John demonstrated extraordinary courage.
Since we are called and chosen to be radical lovers who will carry the gospel to the ends of the earth, our destiny is to prepare the way of the Lord for others around us in our everyday lives. His desire is to remove anything in our lives that would hinder that goal. For Jesus to increase within us, we must allow Him to lovingly prune our lives. We can be assured that His kindness always covers us in the pruning. This process enables us to bear greater fruit for Him. One person living a life of radical obedience for love's sake can bear exponential fruit to capture many hearts for Jesus.
Reflect and Record:
* Take courage ask Jesus if there is anything He wants to prune out of your life today so you can live a life of radical obedience to Him.
* It does take spiritual courage to say, “Jesus, You must become greater and I must become less.” Can you repeat that sentence aloud as the prayer of your heart today?
* Keep praying your daily dangerous prayer from Day 1 from Day 1.
