Daily Devotion, 07/19/2018, “Patient Endurance”
2 Thessalonians 3:5 NLT May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.
I can’t begin to imagine what it would be like to do life with chronic physical pain so severe that virtually every part of my life was impacted by it. Sha and I have a dear friend at CrossRoads named Kari Bailey who doesn’t have to imagine living this way because it is her everyday reality. Kari deals with severe back pain, digestive problems and a host of other health issues on a daily basis. She is diligent in how she takes care of herself and exceptionally disciplined with her diet. Kari is a fully devoted follower of Jesus who believes that God can heal her. She has done all that she can do to seek both healing and restoration but for whatever reason, she has not been healed. Kari made a decision a few years back that pain, no matter how chronic or severe, would not define her. She made a decision to love well and to truly live her life despite the hardships. Our verse today has been a source of inspiration for Kari over the years as she patiently endures the pain while fully expressing the love of God to all in her circle.
I encourage you to receive Paul’s words in our passage today as a blessing over your life and how you live it. May the Lord lead your heart into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.
You are loved!
PS Kari wrote a book that I highly recommend to anyone living with chronic pain or living with someone who is named “Patient Endurance.” You can order a copy through Amazon.
