Daily Devotion, 01/25/2019, “Our Children”
Psalm 127:3 NLT
Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.
It may not feel like it when you’re changing diapers and calming cries at 3 in the morning or during the many challenging seasons of parenting, but our children truly are precious and treasured gifts from God. Whether they are ours or from another family, all children are a gift and a reward to all of us. They are God’s offspring, made in His image, beloved by Him and created with a purpose in mind. (See Ephesians 2:10) Today on day 20th of our 21 Days of Prayer and day six of our week of intercession, we’re turning our prayers toward our children.
The evil one hates our children and will do all he can to “steal, kill and destroy” in their lives. (see John 10:10) We must battle for them in prayer each day. On most mornings, I pray with Micah before he heads off to school. Here is some of what I pray in one form or another. There’s no particular order and it’s not at all the same each day but this is what my heart wants for him.
For Protection: from all the enemy would want to do to harm him.
For Favor: with every student, teacher and faculty member.
For Wisdom: to divinely know what to do in every situation.
For Clarity in his thinking: to learn and test well.
For Escape: from every temptation that comes his way.
For Character: to do what is right, no matter the cost.
For Passion: to be a light, a leader and one who loves well.
I pray for our oldest son Caleb who is a student at LSU-HSC in NOLA also as well as other “children” in my circle. Let’s fight for our kids, grandkids, neighborhood kids, church kids and so on. No weapon formed against them will stand if we stand together for them.
You are loved!
